With the rush of the holiday season and the New Year we are all probably sighing with relief that we have some down time.  I hope you all enjoyed time with your families and friends, it seems each year I find new and continued joy in celebrating Christ's birth and Christmas.  As a hopefilled person I also look forward to the new year and continued growth. 

As we move into the coming months of winter you may find the desire for a bit of color and sunshine, I will be featuring flowers bright in color and long lasting bloom to decorate your tables or a friends.  Daisies and carnations come in so many different colors and they last so long in the vase.  Gerbera daisies are also bright and cheery. 

GREAT NEWS!  I will be opening a small space within LaLone Screen Printing on February 6, 2010 - located in Byron Center just 300 yards west of the main light on 84th street.

Oh my... Halloween has passed and we are just a couple weeks from Thanksgiving.  This is one of my favorite holidays, I love the colors and the scents of spices and flowers in burnt orange, burgundy and chocolate browns.  Most of all I love getting together with family and friends, we play board games, cards and of course watch football.  We have a tradition of going around the table and offering our personal thanks for blessings and prayers for others.  It is a great time to catch up with what we are doing in our families, communities and future endeavors.

I also enjoy decorating for the holidays and no matter our economy this should be fun and believe it or not it can be done affordably.  Flower Designs by Marty has some wonderful options for your consideration.  If you go to the Coupons link you will find terrific coupons and our Hometown Heroes program offer.  Below are additional suggestions including your pets.

PETS!!!!      Calling all pets and their humans!  Please be careful when celebrating and selecting plants for the holidays.  Poinsettias are a traditional and beautiful decoration but place them on a table wide enough to catch falling leave and keep your kitties from jumping up to play or chew on them.  While dark chocolate can be lethal so too much of milk chocolate can make your dog very sick.  Fido no matter how cool he is should never drink beer.  And, Sir Hiss doesn't like traveling over the river with you to grandma's house in a cold car.  Please ask your local veterinarian for a list of plants, flowers and foods that may cause poisoning or endanger your favorite furry, feathery or even scaly friends.    If you don't have a vet please call the Animal Medical Center at 616-531-7387, this is where we take our wonderful dog Pyper and they will provide you with a list and great service.

Thank you for the wonderful wedding bouquet, the orchids and roses were gorgeous and the color was perfect.  I loved the bridesmaid flowers too, they were just the right size and the girls were very happy.  When my nephews bow tie did not show up with his tux you saved the day by making him a bow out of blue ribbon, that was so sweet.  Thanks again Marty!
